Sunday, 07 September 2008 - Outing to Rowallan Castle near Kilmaurs

The castle was built in stages from 13th to the 18th Century and was the home of the important Mure Family, one of whom was the wife of King Robert the Second.  It is now in the care of Historic Scotland.

The coach will leave West Kilbride at 12.15p.m. for Dean Castle, Kilmarnock where tea and biscuits will be provided.  A briefing will also be given here before leaving for Rowallan where a guided tour of the castle will take place, lasting about 1 hour

This excursion is now fully booked.

Friday, 15 August 2008 - Proposed change of name for the society

At the AGM the committee are putting forward a resolution to change the name of the Society to either West Kilbride Civic Trust or West Kilbride Civic Society.  In the present day we think the the word Amenity has come to be associated with recycling centres and thought that the word Civic was perhaps more appropriate.   We welcome your views on the proposed change of name.
