Projects
Some of the projects that have been undertaken during recent years are:
- - The 1983 publication , West Kilbride (a pamphlet)
- The 1977 publication, A West Kilbride Guide.
- A collection of photographs published in 1983, Old West Kilbride .
- Creation and implementation of the Jack's View Viewpoint Indicator (as well as constant maintenance and repair to the indicator and the sitting area) on Corsehill Drive.
- The Society was instrumental in conserving Law Castle at a time when the castle was under threat.
- Numerous position papers and representation to the North Ayrshire Council pertaining to planned new construction, incursion onto public recreational areas by land developers and local public access matters.
- The Amenity Society was, and remains, a strong advocate of retaining the train station when it became surplus to rail requirements. We are delighted to see that a new private owner has refurbished the structure and adapted it for a new use.
- The Society provided and looks after the town map on the Public Hall.
- Members of the Amenity Society created and improved paths in the Glen (the public park in the centre of West Kilbride).
- Active support of other associations and societies working toward improvement of the quality of life in the West Kilbride area.
